Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around West Lydford

Spice Gallery

13 Brunel Cl, Somerton TA11 7PY, UK – 01458 274666

Small but perfectly formed. Lively take-away service in a small Bangladeshi restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. This is a little gem just off a car park in central Somerton.

Best curry I have ever had. I used to live in slough and moved down to Somerset a few years ago. And I have never had a curry as good as this. The staff are always immiculately dressed and friendly. I cannot rate the place highly enough

The White Hart

Market Pl, Somerton TA11 7LX, UK – 01458 272273

Absolutely gorgeous pub and well worth the detour off the direct route to Cornwall. Charming interior, friendly staff and delicious food made us allround happy. The food is freshly prepared which meant that due to the busy holiday season one or two choices were unfortunately sold out, but that's the peril of coming to properly fresh and local produce. All second choices were just as thoroughly enjoyable. Great drinks selection as well. Definitely recommend going out of your way to check out this lovely place.

Excellent as always... Just the best place to go whether it be for a coffee, quiet drink, big social, bed and breakfast or a light meal or full dining... Great place with great staff..

Kingsdon Inn

Kingsdon, Somerton TA11 7LG, UK – 01935 840543

Another really delicious meal at this friendly pub. Sat outside in the evening sunshine with drinks, then inside for our meal. Excellent service even though it was extremely busy.

My wife and I have used the Kingston Inn on and off for over 40 years and until now the quality has always been good - excellent, however a recent 30% increase in the cost of the Monday Club 3-course came as a bit of a shock today, especially as this is the fist time since we've been using the pub that we had to actually highlight an issue with one of our meals, which seem to have shrunk and dropped in quality. The schnitzel was extremely greasy and the new potatoes overcooked. I did raise the issue but no one other than the excellent waiter seemed concerned. It's never a good sign when the meals are served almost immediately after one course has finished. I sincerely hope that this is a one-off as we'd hate to lose such a wonderful hostelry, I say concentrate on the quality or else you may find more people questioning their loyalty.
